Grain d’Amour by Rossella Taffa: An artist’s jewel between symbol and matter

A jewel like a precious seed: irregular, unique, alive. Grain d’Amour, created by the Milanese artist Rossella Taffa, is born from a reflection on the shape of the seed as an essential and primary element. A small object that concentrates symbolic value and material research, excellent idea for a Valentine’s Day gift. The Grain d’Amour by Rossella Taffa are unique pieces handmade in yellow bronze and enriched by lab growing rubies, finished with long and elegant velvet cords. They introduce accents of light and color, emphasizing the sculptural nature of the jewel thanks to their size of about 2.5 centimeters.

Designed to be worn as pendants or chocker, Grain d’Amour combines craftsmanship and contemporary language, placing itself between jewelry and micro-sculpture. The compact form and surface treatment give back an essential object, open to a personal reading.

With Grain d’Amour, Rossella Taffa continues her research on jewelry as an expressive form, where material and handcrafted gesture become central elements of the project

ROSSELLA TAFFA SCULPTURAL JEWELS

Through a path that starts from painting, the Milanese artist Rossella Taffa has discovered a new expressive form: the contemporary jewel.

The small sculptures in gilded bronze and silver, sometimes unique pieces, take shape in his hands, the result of the innate “creative need” that is able to express with the sign or with the material, ranging between painting, sculpture and design in a constant search for spaces of fantasy and imagination.

The jewels of Rossella Taffa introduce into a world made up of light shapes such as petals or fragments of metal polished by the passage of time or imprints that know how to recall ancient cultures.  The fast and safe gesture does not fear imperfections of the form, finding in the irregularity an essential value.

“Designing jewelry has always been a real passion for me. After the first resin collection with primitive shapes that could be worn individually or combined together, I had a crush!  Always looking for new stimuli and driven by the interest in sculpture, I met the talented goldsmith Diana Di Bari and, thanks to her, I approached with enthusiasm the ancient art of lost wax casting. So I was able to fulfill my wish… a project I’ve been thinking about for some time: Rossella Taffa Gioielli Scultorei, pieces in some unique cases entirely executed by hand.

A ray of light on a natural stone, an unexpected flash of color, an unusual shape of a rock or the shine and consistency of a metal are just examples of how my imagination ignites and leads me to mold natural materials in a synthesis of sculptural harmony.  My goal is to create exclusive objects that go beyond the ornament, but become expressions of personal choices.

In the future I would like to combine painting, jewelry and small design objects such as special sculpture handles made on request. Painting is always a deep need that I cannot ignore but simply add to my new passions”.
